Revelo Sees Soaring Demand as US Firms Nearshore AI Talent from LatAm

As U.S. companies ramp up efforts to improve large language models (LLMs), Latin American developer network Revelo is experiencing a surge in demand — particularly for post-training AI development talent. CEO Lucas Mendes told TechCrunch that U.S. enterprises are increasingly turning to Latin America to find vetted engineers who can contribute human expertise in coding to fine-tune AI models.

Founded in 2014, Revelo now hosts over 400,000 developers across Latin America and manages hiring and payroll for major clients including Intuit, Oracle, Dell, and nearly every major hyperscale AI provider. In 2024 alone, 22% of Revelo’s revenue came from roles tied to LLM post-training.

Unlike general outsourcing, Mendes says Revelo’s appeal lies in nearshoring — offering talent in time zone-aligned regions that support real-time collaboration without the logistical strain of offshore operations. With AI entering a phase where human-annotated expertise is vital, the company connects U.S. firms with skilled engineers in specific programming languages.

Revelo’s success has led to five acquisitions in just 30 months — including Alto and Paretisa — consolidating its position as the region’s go-to platform for U.S. tech hiring. Despite a growing trend back toward in-person work in the U.S., demand for Latin American remote talent remains strong due to quality, cost-effectiveness, and seamless integration with American workflows.

Mendes describes Revelo’s mission as building the “global talent backbone for the age of AI”, with further acquisitions planned as AI’s workforce needs expand.
